Who are we ?

AfricAvenir International Austria

Since the 90's, the cooperation between the Foundation AfricAvenir International in Douala and the official institutions in Austria has been effective: the "Academy of the Greens", the City Hall of the City of Graz, the State of Steiermark of the Austrian Federation, the "BMUKK" - Austrian Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, the Austrian Commission for UNESCO, the Diplomatic Academy, the Colleges of Higher Education, schools, theatres etc. The cooperation is based on a partnership between the Foundation AfricAvenir International in Douala and the official institutions in Austria. Several projects were carried out, including the 3-year project (2004-2007) under the patronage of the European Council and the "BMUKK": "Literacy and Linguistic Diversity in a Global Perspective: Intercultural exchange with African countries", the publication of "Masomandala", a storybook in African languages (duala, ewondo, French); since 2007, partnerships and cooperation exist between Austrian and Cameroonian schools, such as in the Sparkling Science Project "MY LIFE - MY STYLE - MY FUTURE" (2010), the production of the play in German by Prince Kum'a Ndumbe III "Das Fest der Liebe" (BMUKK , UNESCO, 2011), the seminar for Austrian teachers "The Self and the Other" (2012) with Prince Kum'a Ndumbe III as guest speaker to present his work written in German. Other scientific cooperations such as the project "Preservation and Transmission of African Collective Memory - African Testimonies and Oral Literature in Colonial History" are ongoing (AfricAvenir International Foundation, Douala, Gerda Henkel Stiftung, Düsseldorf, Phonogrammarchiv der ÖAW, Vienna, 2015-2020).
